Our story
Veterinary Hospital Group was founded by Dr Grant McCullough, who has been caring for animals as a veterinarian since 1986. It began with Albany Veterinary Hospital in 1991 and has grown into a network of clinics serving communities right across Auckland.
While the group has grown, our purpose hasn't changed. We provide compassionate, high quality veterinary care and make sure every pet and every owner receives the attention, respect and care they deserve.
1986
Dr Grant McCullough begins his career as a veterinarian.
1991
Albany Veterinary Hospital opens in Library Lane, Albany Village, moving to Albany Highway in 1994.
2004
Grant opens another clinic in Silverdale, connected to the Jansens Pet Store group (now Animates).
2007
Massey Heights Veterinary Hospital opens.
2010
Parkhill Veterinary Hospital in Birkenhead joins the group.
2013
Hobsonville Veterinary Hospital opens.
2014
Hibiscus Coast Veterinary Hospital opens on a new site.
2016
Peninsula Bay and Remuera Veterinary Hospitals open.
2017
Dairy Flat Veterinary Clinic opens.
2019
Auckland Veterinary Hospital in Glen Eden, one of West Auckland's original clinics, joins the group.
2023
The group purchases the small animal side of Auckland Vet Clinics in Takanini and Clevedon.
2024
St Heliers Veterinary Hospital joins the group, carrying on 40 years of vet care at the former Glendowie clinic.
2025
Cat Doctor Veterinary Hospital joins the group.
Today
14 clinics across Auckland: Hibiscus Coast, Peninsula Bay, Silverdale, Dairy Flat, Albany, Cat Doctor, Parkhill, Hobsonville, Massey Heights, Auckland (Glen Eden), Remuera, St Heliers, Clevedon and Takanini.
