Before you arrive

What to do on the way

Keep yourself safe and your pet as calm and still as possible. Our team will guide you over the phone.

Call ahead

Phone the clinic you are heading to so the team can get ready for your pet.

Keep them warm and still

Wrap your pet in a towel or blanket and move them gently. Carry cats and small pets in a secure carrier.

Bring the packaging

If you think your pet has eaten something toxic, bring the packet, plant or a photo of it with you.

Take care with injured pets

Animals in pain may bite or scratch, even if they never normally would. Handle them gently and keep your face away.

Don't give human medicines

Many human pain relievers are toxic to pets. Wait for advice from our vets.

Outside opening hours

If your clinic is closed

Phone your usual clinic and listen to the recorded message for the latest after hours instructions. Our Dairy Flat clinic provides on call cover for its farm and lifestyle clients.

For life threatening emergencies when our clinics are closed, please go directly to your nearest after hours emergency veterinary hospital.

Opening hours vary by clinic

Several of our clinics are open late on weekdays, and Silverdale and Remuera are open on Sundays. Check your clinic's hours before you travel.
