Added to the Veterinary Hospital Group in 2019. One of the original Vet clinics in the West Auckland area, dedicated to providing high end service to our clients and their pets for over 30 years. Dr. Jessie Levens is the primary Veterinarian with Dr. Mariam Youssef and Dr. Mark Simpson, supported by our nursing team Lauren, Caroline H, Andie, Lizzi, Sharon, Zoe, Jane, Hayley, Ash, Katie and receptionist Casey.
Mark graduated from Massey University with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1983. Fresh from his studies Mark started working at Auckland Vets. Since then Mark bought into the practice, initially as a partner then was sole owner for many years until the practice was passed over to the Veterinary Hospital Group. Mark lives in Mt Albert with his wife Janette. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. The four legged family members are Max the Maltese Terrier cross and Rocky the Jack Russell Terrier. Outside of work Mark has a passion for cycling, both road and mountain biking. At work Mark enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery.
Mariam joined the Auckland Vet Hospital team in 2021 after graduating from Massey University with a BVSc in 2020. She has a passion for all things small animal, and a particularly keen interest in Veterinary Dentistry. In her spare time, Mariam can be found exploring NZ's backyard, visiting one the many beautiful west coast beaches or nestled at home taking care of her numerous plants.
Dr. Jessie is a dedicated veterinarian with over 15 years of experience in both emergency and general practice. With a special interest in animal behavior, internal medicine, and ultrasound, Jessie combines expert knowledge with a genuine passion for animal care. When not at the clinic, Jessie enjoys life on a beautiful farm, where the love for the outdoors is shared with family and children. Committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care, Jessie truly loves making a difference in the lives of both pets and their owners.
Graduated 2018 with Diploma Veterinary Nursing. Moved to Auckland in 2025 with 2 rescued/rehomed cats. Likes old cats, big dogs, and living near the beach. Favorite aspects in nursing are clinical pathology, radiology, and a cheeky little surgery! Nicole trained as a vet nurse and became certified in 1998 during this time she became employed to work at Auckland Vet Hospital she enjoyed the clients and patients so much she stayed until 2021 during this time she had many kittens to foster and two children who are now adults. Nicole stepped away from the clinic and has recently rejoined the group in 2025 and is so pleased to see the loyal customers and their furry companions of course.
Caroline completed the NZCAT (VNA) at Unitec and started working at Auckland Vets in February 2018 after being a client for 11 years. She is loving her second career so far. Caroline lives on the edge of the Waitakere Ranges and her favourite thing to do is beach walks with her daughter. She is passionate about educating pet owners, allowing them to make informed choices to improve the health, welfare and wellbeing of their animals.
Hi there, my name is Cassy and I recently joined the Veterinary Hospital Group in 2024. I have a diploma in veterinary nursing and a certificate in feline nursing, as I'm very passionate about our feline friends. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends or bouldering. I'm excited to connect with you and your four-legged family.
Hayley holds a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing from Vet Nurse Plus and first started at the Veterinary Hospital Group back in 2017. After taking a break from vet nursing, she found her way back to the group as a casual in 2024. Hayley enjoys many aspects of vet nursing, but is especially passionate about in-hospital patient care. In her spare time she enjoys practicing karate, riding her e-scooter and spending time with her tabby cat, Toto.
Katie is currently in her second year of Veterinary Nursing studies at Unitec. She first joined AVH during a school work placement and was invited to stay on to help in the cattery over the Christmas period in November last year. Since then, Katie has stepped into the role of Veterinary Nurse Assistant, in line with her training. She’s excited to complete her studies and become a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse by the end of this year.
Andie has been a vet nurse for 20 years working at various clinics. Her passion is canine behaviour and mentoring junior nurses. Her Rescue dog Asher was given a steep leaning curve in behaviour. Her and her Partner enjoy softball + Motor sports when not walking the dog.
