St Heliers Veterinary Hospital

2 Riddell Road Glendowie 1071

Welcome to St Heliers Veterinary Hospital, the newest addition to the Veterinary Hospital Group. Operating out of what was previously the Glendowie Vet Clinic run by Dr Martin Reid, the team at St Heliers have taken up the torch to continue the excellent vet care that has been provided at the current location for 40 years. The clinic is purpose built, offering a large and comfortable reception area (stocked with all of your pets favourite goodies!), separate cat and dog wards, in house lab, ultrasound, dental equipment and x-rays. We offer both general practice level care and diagnostics as well as soft tissue surgery and dentistry all provided by our excellent team of qualified staff that have hit the ground running from April 2024. Our team have already had the pleasure of meeting many of the locals of St Heliers, Glendowie and Kohimarama and we're so excited to be a part of such a close knit community. The team of doctors include Dr Dave Perry, Dr Becky Dubowitz and Dr Prisna Dixit and are supported by practice manager and nurse Rebekah, as well as nurses Andie, Camille and Sophia. You'll also find familiar faces Ginny and Melanie, who work every Saturday and have done so for many years. Read about them below, or pop in to see us anytime!

Meet the Team

Prisna Dixit
BVSc

Prisna is one of the newest additions to the VHG St Helier’s team, bringing with her a varied global perspective and a lifelong love of animals. Originally from Nepal, her journey to veterinary medicine took a scenic route—beginning with a degree in English Literature in the U.S. and several years of teaching around the world. Eventually, her passion for animal care led her to complete veterinary training in the Philippines, and earn her U.S. license through the rigorous ECFVG program conducted by the AVMA. Having travelled to New Zealand several times as a tourist from 2006, Prisna finally made the move to Auckland, where she’s thrilled to combine her veterinary skills with her love of travel, nature, and local history. Outside the clinic, her best memories since moving over have been of the always-exciting hikes in the Waitaks and puffing through the rain on the Hauraki Trail on her birthday 😊

Dr Dave Perry
DVM and MS

Dave graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2021 from Colorado State University in the United States. He practiced as a small animal veterinarian in Denver until he and his wife Colleen (and their dog Summit) moved to New Zealand in November 2024. They have settled in St Heliers and could not be more excited to live so close to the beach and ocean. Dave earned his bachelor's degree in Marine Science and Biology at the University of Miami in Florida, so he is happy to be back living by the water even though he grew up next to the mountains in Colorado. His professional interests include dentistry, preventative medicine, and diagnostic imaging such as ultrasound. Away from work Dave and Colleen enjoy hiking, camping, snowboarding/skiing, and exploring local craft breweries and wineries.

Becky Dubowitz
BVM&S

Becky graduated vet school from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 and also earned her bachelors in Zoology, studying caterpillar biodiversity across Scotland. She started her vet career in South Taranaki before moving up to Auckland in early 2024. Becky has a particular interest in pain management in our geriatric pet population, and bespoke anaesthetic planning for surgeries. She has recently achieved membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (companion animals, equine, and production animals). Outside of work, Becky enjoys cooking, learning new languages, and spoiling her retired guide dog, Helen.

Rebekah
DipVN

Rebekah is the practice manager of St Heliers Vet Hospital, after working as a head nurse for the Remuera branch for a number of years. She graduated in 2018 from Unitec with a diploma in Veterinary Nursing. When she isn't giving cuddles to all of the patients in clinic, you can find her enjoying the culinary scene on offer in Auckland, rollerskating and completing DIY projects at home including making her own clothes. She is a bona fide cat person and has a black and white "cow" kitty at home called Jean Jean

Camille
DVN

Camille graduated with a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing from Unitec in 2024. She has a passion for animal care and wellbeing. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her much-loved horses, her cat Memphis, and her dog Bo.

Andie
Dip VN

Andie has been a vet nurse for 20 years working at various clinics. Her passion is canine behaviour and mentoring junior nurses. Her Rescue dog Asher was given a steep leaning curve in behaviour. Her and her Partner enjoy softball + Motor sports when not walking the dog.
