Desexing is a day procedure that we recommend is carried out before your pet reaches sexual maturity, which differs between species (as a general approximation, around 5 months of age, we recommend checking with your vet for the best timing recommendation for your pet). Your pet will come into the clinic between 8-9am after being fasted overnight, and will be able to go home in the afternoon on the same day.
A spey involves removing the uterus and ovaries through an incision in the abdomen, whereas neutering involves removing the testicles through an incision on or next to the scrotum.
