We are a well-established veterinary clinic located in Dairy Flat and a pillar in the local community.
Our veterinarians all have different special interest areas and expertise so that all of your animal needs are covered, from cats and dogs to horses, cattle and sheep. Our veterinary team consists of Monique, Izzie and Susan.
The nursing and support staff include : Lauren, Monica, Gretchen, Amber, Maria, Megan, Erica and Katie. The whole team are very knowledgeable and willing and eager to provide advice on any aspect of pet care or farming.

Graduated from Glasgow Veterinary School in Scotland and worked in equine and small animal practice in the UK for 10 years before emigrating to New Zealand with her partner in 2009. She worked in both emergency clinics in Auckland and for Veterinary Hospital Group in the Parkhill branch for 6 years before a short career break having her daughter. Susan returned to work in emergency out of hours work and then rejoined the Veterinary Hospital Group as Northern Clinical Director in January 2023. You may come across her working in any of the northern branches.
Originally from Utrecht, The Netherlands, Birthe came to New Zealand together with her partner in January 2016. After she enjoyed travelling around NZ, she decided this is the country she wants to stay in a bit longer. Birthe graduated in a Master of Equine in The Netherlands and since moving to NZ has also worked in a small animal practice in South Auckland before coming to work with us in April 2017. She is enjoying the mixture of small and large animals. Back home she was riding dressage in her free time and plans on starting again in the near future.
Gretchen graduated from Unitec in 2018 with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. After a career in the thoroughbred breeding industry, Gretchen decided to study vet nursing later in life. She has a special interest in medicine and is excited to continue to build her knowledge in the nursing care of all animals small and large. In her spare time, you will find Gretchen swimming, diving and reading. She has two cats called Edward and Bertie.
Maria came to vet nursing later in life. She graduated with the Diploma of Veterinary Nursing from Unitec in 2022. She is interested in and enjoys all aspects of nursing. Outside of work, she enjoys music, reading and the outdoors.
We’re happy to have Monica back with the Dairy Flat team as Assistant Manager, having rejoined us at the start of 2025. With her previous experience, Monica is looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new clients along the way. When she's not at work, Monica enjoys spending time with her family, baking, and indulging in some creative crafting. We’re excited to have her back and look forward to the positive energy she brings to the team.
Lauren has recently joined Dairy Flat Vet Clinic as the Practice Manager. She brings a wealth of experience in both management and nursing, with a strong background in the care of both small and large animals. Outside of work, Lauren is deeply involved in managing her beef farm, supporting her family business, and spending quality time outdoors with her husband and their 4-year-old son. She is also passionate about horseback riding and leads a balanced, active lifestyle.
Amber graduated in 2012 with a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and Certificate in Animal Management (Captive Wild Animals). She has worked in small animal practices and in specialist/emergency, and most recently has had time off raising her two young daughters. Amber enjoys many aspects of vet nursing from emergency to nurse consults and client care. She has a special interest in wildlife medicine and conservation. She joined the Dairy Flat team in 2024 and is enjoying the new challenge of large animal medicine! Amber lives in Whangaparaoa with her husband and their two young daughters.
Originally from a small town in South Africa, Megan moved to New Zealand with her family in 2017. After finishing high school she went on to fulfill her younger self’s dream of working in the animal industry and graduated from Vet Nurse Plus in 2022 with her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. Megan joined the Vet Hospital Group in 2024 and loves interacting with clients, but would kidnap your furry friend if she was given the opportunity (cuddles for the win!!) She enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, loves dancing and music (and her VW) and is obsessed with all things country!
